Here is a collection of photos from out trip out to Boston. This was our first anniversary trip. It was a road trip out to Philly, Boston, and the beautiful Cape Cod. Enjoy!
This is Leroy (aka our GPS). He was our tour guide and life saver for our trip!
I discovered the McDonald's Frappe (OMG...so good!). Z enjoyed many iced coffees along the way too!
I started to knit my ver first baby blanket on the way! No, it is not for us, but for Z's cousin and wife who were expecting while on our trip.
When we made it to Philly to see J & V; we all celebrated a belated birthday for Z.
Our first day in Philly we went down town or "center city" as the locals call it. We went to the Reading Farmers' Market, and got the BEST whoopie pie ever... here are so pictures of everyone else trying it...
We did alot of eating while in Philly; at least when we went to "center city." Not only did we have whoopie pies, but we also waited in line at Jim's for an hour to have the best cheese steak! I ordered, "whiz wit onions and sweet peppers." Delicious! And of course a birch beer to go with it. I love Z's face when tasting this gooey goodness...
Philly is a historical place with Indepence Hall, the Liberty Bell. We all have seen those things before (hence no pictures), so we decided to take part in another kind of history lesson at the Oldest Operating Saloon/Bar right by Indepence Hall. Here is J&V enjoying a sample of their brews...
The next few pictures are from our adventures in "center city" that day. It was a great weekend filled with laughs, and time with my sister and her great husbie (or husband, but V calls him husbie).
My sister and I lived by Hershey, PA when we were younger and so we decided to take a drive over. This was Z's first time to experience this chocolaty adventure. We had so many laughs and memories...
After our great weekend in Philly; it was on the road again to Boston. The drive was beautiful through New York, PA, and New Jersey; especially when we started to reach Boston. When we reached Boston we got the change to stay with Z's cousin & family. They were so great helping us find our way around. Their kids are amazing and well... they are just an amazing family.
Our first adventure was to the Samuel Adams Brewery. What a great thing to do, and if you ever got to Boston; this is a must. I would strongly suggest eating something before the tour & tasting. Let's just say I am speaking from experience, and it made the train ride back into the city an interesting one...
Another thing that is a MUST when visiting Boston is the Duck Tours. It is a great way to get yourself acquainted with this wonderful city and a side tour of the Freedom Trail if you do not want to walk it...
After the exciting Duck Tours (it really was) we decided to walk the Freedom Trail around the city. There are so many amazing things and history among the streets of Boston. There were many pictures taken, but here are a few along the freedom Trail. This is a Boston must as well...
After the Freedom Trail; we were starving. I think everyone we talked to said, "If you are looking for good food; go the the north end." So, that is exactly what we need. It was perfect because it was right on our walk back to the trains and right on the Freedom Trail.
We were told to go to Giacomo's (sorry for the spelling) to get the house special for two. It was the best meal we have ever had. It was a good bottle of wine too...
We knew it was good when we saw the line to get in when we left... all the locals love it there. It is a Boston must!
Of course being in historic North End, we also had some great coffee, and I found my true love of the canoli...oh my... so good. Thank goodness I don't live there to be tempted by those things...

The North End was by far our favorite place. Not just the food, but the quaint neighborhood felt so welcoming and beautiful everywhere you turn...
The final and major thing we did while in Boston was a tour of Fenway Park. Z & I are both big MN Twins fans, but also baseball fans in general. I was a little hesitant to go to the Red Sox stadium, but after getting the feel for Boston; I knew I would survive.
Fenway is a jewel just like the city. It is historical, and beautiful, and has kept its integrity. I could go on and on about the stadium, but here are a few pictures of Fenway...
Our last night in Boston we spend by the Swan Boats and hanging out in Boston Common. It was so beautiful and a great night. We shared our last canoli of the trip, and watched people, and there was live theatre going on in this historical park, and it was amazing to see the turn out of the locals...
After Boston we were looking forward to a relaxing trip to Cape Cod. My cousin & wife live out there with their dog Miles. I don't know if I was just so relaxed that I forgot to take pictures or what... but I don't have any! I don't know what I was thinking. This is pure paradise! It was fun to see my cousin and hear about what was going on and what their life has been like. I guess I will have to plan another trip out there and actually take pictures!
That's all folks!
